Formerly the Head of Department of Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery at Singapore General Hospital, Dr Jacqueline Tan also serves as the Director of Micro-reconstruction Service and Director of Peripheral Nerve and Paralytic Upper Limb Service.
Upon the completion of her training as a hand surgeon in Singapore, Dr Tan was awarded the prestigious Health Manpower Development Plan scholarship by the Ministry of Health (MOH). Wanting to specialise in Brachial Plexus Surgery and Advanced Microsurgery, Dr Tan then went on to further complete a one-year advanced fellowship in Taiwan under the tutelage of internationally-acclaimed Hand and Orthopedic Microsurgeon – Professor Yuan-Kun Tu. The hand doctor’s field of expertise is in early and late brachial plexus reconstruction, peripheral nerve disorders, reconstructive microsurgery of the extremities and wrist disorders.
Alongside her career as a hand surgeon, Dr Tan is also passionate about the academe. Bringing with her a wealth of experience and knowledge, Dr Tan is active in academic teaching and currently holds teaching appointments of Adjunct Assistant Professor in both Duke-NUS Medical School and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
She was previously the Deputy Vice Chair for Education in the Musculoskeletal Sciences Academic Clinical Programme, SingHealth, as well as the Program Director for the SingHealth Hand Surgery Program and Core Faculty for the SingHealth Orthopaedic Surgery Program. She was the Chair of the Hand Surgery Examination Committee under the Joint Committee for Specialist Training, with MOH, Singapore from 2019-2020 and the Chief Examiner of the Hand Surgery Exit Examinations in 2019. She has also taught for many years at AO Trauma Courses and Basic Instructional Courses on Microsurgery, imparting her knowledge and experience as a hand specialist to the next generation.
Apart from her teaching commitments, Dr Tan has published widely in the field of hand surgery with numerous first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals. The female hand surgeon also speaks regularly at several local, regional, and international conferences, focusing on brachial plexus injuries, thumb carpometacarpal arthritis, and hand and wrist trauma.
She is also a member of many local as well as international professional societies which include the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Asia Pacific Wrist Association and the International Microsurgery Club. Furthermore, Dr Tan is also the organising Chairperson for many notable inaugural courses such as the AO Trauma Asia Pacific Masters Hand & Wrist Course in 2016, Exit Exam Preparatory Course in 2017, SSHS Hand Surgery Revision Series in 2020. Throughout her years of leadership, Dr Tan has organised many workshops including sawbones, cadaveric flap dissections for the residents. Despite her busy schedule, she still finds time to fly out to Cambodia every year to operate on the patients there and train hand surgeons.

Erin is a patient-focused nurse who believes in delivering holistic care to her patients. She graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic with outstanding academic achievements, receiving numerous awards during the course of her study.
Upon graduation, Erin finds herself developing an interest in Orthopaedic and Hand Surgery after working with established musculoskeletal surgeons in public institutions. She enjoys challenges and went on to pursue a Bachelor in Nursing, majoring in research which includes management of wounds, medical resources deployment and medical law regarding patients’ rights.
Erin can effectively communicate in English, Chinese, Malay and local dialects. Over the years, she has impressed many patients with her gentle and attentive care. She is proficient in observing patients’ needs beyond their medical conditions and always strives to deliver the most personalised care.

Fidiana is an enthusiastic and cheerful person with nearly 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry. During her long service with Singapore General Hospital, she worked closely with various doctors to provide professional clinical support for patients and has since acquired a strong knowledge base of customer service skills.
Her contributions did not go unrecognized and she was a 4 time winner of the Singapore Health Quality Services Gold Awards.
As part of the team at Advanced Hand, Wrist & Nerve Centre, she believes that working with patients is not only her profession, but it is also her personal calling. She believes in caring for her patients beyond their medical needs and hope to provide them with the most seamless clinical experience.
